The Royal Palace sits at the heart of Angkor Thom City, it was built around the 10th
century with perishable materials, only stone structure and space remained. Prasat Phemeanakas located side by side
to the Royal Palace, front view of Royal Palace are the Leper King Terrace and Elephant Terrace.
The six towers of Prasat Sour Proat aligned each side of Victory gate, front of Leper and Elephant Terraces.
The landscapes were very well planned by King Jayarvaman VII, 12th century.
Prasat Phemeanakas (Khmer means Palace in the sky) located within the Royal Palace site, it is surround by 5 meters
high laterite wall, 246 meters x 585 meters, total area about 14 hectares. The temple is quite modest, called tower of gold, it
is the place where the King worshiped.
There are two ponds on north of temple, one called Srah Srei (women pong), other pond is much larger
125 meters x 45 meters called Srah Pros(men pond).

The Sour Proat temples locates near end of Victory Gate, in front of Royal Palace. They were built the same century, six temples were aligned on each side of Victory gate. Sour Proat in Khmer definition means the rope tights from one end to other, that could be the reason that those temples were aligned outside of the Royal Temple.
